Presumed late 19th century Sauternes, Ancien Cru du Roi. 1e Cru Classe 1855
Obtained at auction in Paris in 1999 where it was misidentified as a Cognac because of its color (Auction receipt available.) The bottle has an appearance consistent with other 19th-century bottles of the same brand. The label is heavily scuffed and no vintage can be identified.  The vintage in that era would be handwritten on the label.

Château Suduiraut is situated close to the legendary Chateau d’Yquem in the sweet white wine-producing appellation of Sauternes. Château Suduiraut boasts 92 hectares under vine growing on a terroir that consists mostly of gravel, sand, and clay soils. The vineyard of Ch. Suduiraut is planted with almost 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc with a tiny amount of Sauvignon Gris as well. It enjoys a favorable micro-climate that is conducive to "noble rot" or botrytis cinerea which, in the correct conditions, results in the concentration of grape sugars and is vital in the creation of what is generally regarded as one of the world's greatest dessert wines, viz. Sauternes.

This late 19th-century vintage presents a rare opportunity for the discerning connoisseur of Sauternes.
